About

Paul joins the CBS 5 morning team from Cincinnati, Ohio. His first visit to the Valley was to visit his sister Lynne at ASU; after that he was determined to end up in Phoenix. Paul says, “There is so much to do here, it is really easy to fall in love with this area!”

Paul realized he had an interest in weather in 1989, when he and his father were huddled in the bathroom of their small St. Thomas home enduring the wrath of Hurricane Hugo. After that experience he realized how important a meteorologist’s job can be. He is a graduate of the communication/broadcasting program at George Fox University. Paul received his Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University.

Prior to his arrival at CBS 5, Paul was the Chief Meteorologist for WXIX TV. He was also the in-game host for the Cincinnati Reds, and hosted a weekly radio show with his brother Mike. He also spent time working in Kennewick, Spokane, and Seattle, Wa. During that time he won an Emmy for the Northwest’s best weather anchor and received numerous community awards for his work with local schools.

Being involved in the community is very important to Paul.  He enjoys spending much of his time volunteering for local charities and visiting local schools talking to students about the weather. On the weekends you can find Paul hiking, at the pool, exploring the area, and on his radio show on 98.7 The Peak every Sunday afternoon.

CBS 5 is very excited to have Paul Horton on the morning news team. Be sure to join him weekdays from 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. for a fun twist on what the Valley has to offer. Paul is out and about every morning to bring you a sneak peek at the must-see events and locations. If you have an upcoming event you want more people to know about, or a really cool place we’ve just got to send Paul, e-mail us with all your contact information and a quick sentence or two about why it’s a “must-see” live location for CBS 5 Morning News.

  1. Hey Buddy!
Nice work on the station remodel! I need a Kiss the Builder T-Shirt! I will be out of town from the 21st to the 25th and have 4 tickets to the Dbacks on Thursday nite the 21st and Sunday day the 24th. Can you guys use them on either of these 2 days? Let me know ASAP and I will leave them for you at will call when I go to tomorrow nites game. Or maybe we can hookup before then!
    Keep up the great work!
    Mike and Mo

  2. Paul, just moved here from Spokane and love seeing a familiar face! Thanks for the warm welcome, the weather is great!

  3. Hi Paul! My wife and I moved to the Phoenix area this past year. We both had lived in Spokane most of our lives, so when I pulled her down here, well, needless to say, she came scratching most of the way… Anyway, when she saw you on the tube it really did make her a little more easy to live with (thnak you!). You really did give her a sense of “home”, so thanks for being here and doing a great job, just like you did in Spokane. Keep up the fantastic work.

  4. Hello Paul,
My wife and I watched you on WXIX in Cincinnati along with Rob and Sheila for a long time and we have moved to Glendale this past May. We enjoy your weather reporting and will continue to watch this station in a big part because we are big fans of yours.

We love this area and fell in love with it several years ago and were just recently able to move here. Keep up the good work! Jack McGowan

  5. Hi Paul,

Just wanted to tell you what a great job you’re doing, and Arizona’s lucky to have you.

I also moved here from the N.W… the BETTER part of N.W that is (that being Oregon). ha!

    Keep up the good work.

    Sincerely,

    Christie

  6. Paul:

It was such a pleasure actually meeting you last Saturday at Wal-Mart.

I am chairman of the Racway Elks Lodge 2852 Veterans
Affiars committee. Would like to discuss anything you
might be willing to assist with in any of our future
    activities….supporting etc.

Bye the way…congratulations on your recent engagement.

  7. Hey Paul~Been seeing you on the evening news lately….Is this something permanent? When I brought my car to be washed I promised you Christmas cookies and now I don’t know what time to take them to the station. I sure miss not having you out and about on the morning show. You always make everything fun, interesting and let us know what is going on. You are the reason I switched from the other news show. Great Job!!!
